Yoga for Creatives
Yoga for Creatives was born when Jess discovered the truly transformational effect yoga had not only on her mind and body, but on her career as a performer too.
Jess has taught Yoga for Creatives workshops and classes for the likes of Pineapple Dance Studios, Newcastle College, Collective Creative Initiative, CBS dance, Associated Studios, South Staffordshire College and even taught meditation to the kids of “School of Rock” during her time in the West End production!
What is “Yoga for Creatives”?
Yoga for Creatives is a class or workshop focusing on how yoga can improve the life of someone pursuing a creative career both physically and mentally. Whether that be as an actor, singer, dancer or any other creative career, the concept is tailored to the high demands these industries involve.
Why Yoga?
The benefits of yoga extend far beyond the physical when it comes to being a creative. See below some of the many reasons that yoga works so well for a creative career:
Meditation and mindfulness help to bring the practicioner more into the present moment. This work can improve memory skills for learning lines or choreography as well as fostering a general sense of gratitude and contentment.
Breathing techniques (pranayama) can increase lung capacity and improve breath control for vocal work.
Yoga postures (asana) can both strengthen and loosen muscles, stabilise joints and aid overall function of the musculoskeletal system.
Targeted chakra work can increase motivation, productivity, help with emotional stability/grounding, improve communication, open the throat area, increase self-love and allow creativity to flourish.
Yoga as a whole practice can instil a sense of wellbeing, lessen anxiety and help with performance or audition nerves.
…and so much more!
